Hello Again, Beauty Lushers!!!!
I am 15 months away from my 40th birthday. And I must say, I am truly looking forward to aging. Although life has its ebbs and flows, I factually know everyday we are alive and well is a true blessing. Everyday is a new opportunity to try and try again. There are so many things for me to live for and the main thing is growing old and thriving in life, business, and family.
Every year, my birthday is bittersweet. It’s the one day I dedicate to myself, however, I am a bit anxiety ridden because I start to question if I have done enough or I think I’m not as far in life as I should be, or if I would’ve done this, I would feel more fulfilled. This year I am more relaxed. And that’s because I have a plan and vision of what I want my life to transition into in the next 15 months. Before I had an idea of the person I wanted to become, or the things I wanted to do but I never planned for any of it. I was just existing and I thought things would just happen for me. What’s that saying? “A man without a plan is a man without direction–-Rod Cornelius
For the next 15 months I am a “Woman with a Plan” and I will share my non-negotiable 40 before 40 list throughout my journey to my 40th birthday and I would absolutely love it, if you can share yours as well. I want us to become a safe community of self-love and growth.
Here are my top 5 things to do before 40
- Create a consistent Daily Prayer and Meditation Practice.
Meditation helps with increasing self-awareness, focusing on the present, and building skills to manage your stress.
Prayer can encourage a closer connection to a higher power, increase gratitude, reduce anxiety and experience calm. —Glorify-app.com
When I consistently pray and meditate my emotional health becomes more stable. I am able to better navigate difficult situations that would normally frustrate me to the point of raising my voice, I could handle them with a more rational approach. And my goals in life become easier to identify and I am motivated to explore them.
- Dedicate 30 minutes of reading daily and to read 1 book a month.
The benefits of reading everyday is to gain valuable knowledge, exercise your brain, prove your focus, improve your memory, and improve your communication skills.- 10 Benefits of Reading Books: Why You Should Read Every Day article by Thomas J Law. www.oberlo.com
There was a time in my life where I loved to read. Back then, it was mainly non-fiction books or books about fashion. Currently, I am interested in more self help books. I hope to improve my storytelling ability (because I suck at it) and to increase my vocabulary so I can better articulate myself.
- Improve my current diet.
Having a healthy diet will bring benefits–both in the short term and in the long term. Not only will your body feel better, but you’ll experience an improved quality of life, have less risk of disease -Short-term and Long-term effects of a healthy diet. www.livestrong.com
By the time I am 40, my goal is to consistently eat a well balanced diet. Drink more water. Also, improve my gut health by reducing sugar and dairy. I would also like to start taking supplements to improve my overall health. I would like to have more energy and less bloating.
- Consistently Move my Body!!!
When combined with a regular exercise program, eating a healthy diet will enable you to lose excess body fat and build healthy, lean muscle.-Short-term and Long-term effects of a healthy diet. www.livestrong.com
Once you’ve been eating a healthy diet for a while, your body will essentially go into maintenance mode. Your weight will stabilize at a healthy set point, and you’ll be consistently energetic.-Short-term and Long-term effects of a healthy diet. www.livestrong.com
At the moment I am a full figured gal (haha). While I love myself and embrace the body I am in now (because this wasn’t always the case for me) I know this is not where I want to stay for the rest of my life. By the time I am 40, I will have met my weightloss goal and be in maintenance mode. My entire adult life my weight has fluctuated. This is due to inconsistency. (But is a conversation for a later post)
- Have a consistent beauty and skin care routine.
My current skin care routine consists of cleanser and moisturizer. While this may be enough for most, I see areas of my skin that need improvement. Instead of going out and buying “all the products”. I want to get a better understanding of the products needed for my skin type and issues I can improve upon so that I can share with all of you.
My ultimate goal in life is to no longer do what I think I’m supposed to do or what everyone else is doing. I want to thrive in all areas of my life and be unapologetically confident and fearless.
Feel Free to Share areas in life you would like to improve on or have improved at your current age. I’d love to hear from Ya!!!
